The University of Wyoming Uses E-Verify to Verify Employee Employment Eligibility

The University of Wyoming is a participating E-Verify employer.

The E-Verify program is a free, federally-mandated verification system that allows employers to verify the employment eligibility of their employees. It works by electronically comparing information from an employee's Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to records available from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Social Security Administration (SSA).

About E-Verify:

Generally, results from E-Verify are provided within three to five seconds after an employee's information has been submitted. The service is one of the fastest and most accurate ways to verify an employee's employment eligibility.

Employers must use E-Verify in a consistent manner. This includes conspicuously posting the Notice of E-Verify Participation poster and the Right to Work poster shown below in English and Spanish at the company's hiring locations.

About E-Verify:

Effective September 8, 2009, institutions of higher education entering into federal contracts are required to use the E-Verify system to establish the employment eligibility of newly hired and current employees who directly perform work on a federal contract that includes the E-Verify clause.

For current employees working in federal contracts issued before September 8, 2009, the E-Verify requirements do not apply unless a change is made by the agency to incorporate the E-Verify clause into the terms of the contract. If you are unsure about whether a change in your contract has occurred, please contact your administrator, budget contact or the principal investigator.

About E-Verify:

If you have questions about using E-Verify, please contact your human resources office. They will be able to answer your questions and help you complete the verification process.
